Pastor & Staff

Pastor Donovan Furstenberg

In 2019, Pastor Donovan heard a divine calling to step into ministry, a transformative moment that would reshape his lifeโ€™s path. With a heart for Jesus and the people of his community, he began to train and prepare for his role in serving others through the gospel.

In June 2021, Pastor Donovan was called to shepherd The Refuge, a congregation committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, seeking the Holy Ghost and providing a welcoming and loving environment for all who seek restoration, deliverance, hope and healing. Under his leadership, The Refuge has become a place of spiritual growth, encouragement, and community outreach.

Whether preaching, counseling, or leading by example, Pastor Donovan continues to live out his calling, offering guidance and strength to all those who come to The Refuge seeking a deeper connection with God.

Pastor Hunter Daniels

Hunter Daniels was born on December 28, 1995. He was born in a family of ministers. Both of his grandfathers pastored and his dad began pastoring when he was young boy. After graduating from high school and community college, he attended Heritage Bible College in Savannah, Georgia for 4 academic years and received a bachelorโ€™s degree in Education. He teaches at Tribe of Judah School in Mayodan. He began working for The Refuge Church in January 2023 and is involved in many areas, including music, drama, teaching, and our annual camp meeting.

Pastor Jerri Atkins

With a degree in Nursing, Jerri has had various experiences working with children, adults, and senior adults, enabling her to teach others about God's love, His love, and His plan. After receiving her minister's license in 2022 from the IPHC Biblical Institute, she serves as the supporting leader for the Senior Pastor.

Her parents and church family always instilled a love for God's word and encouraged her to grow in Christ. Jerri joined Mayodan Pentecostal Holiness Church in 2006 and began volunteering in Sunday school and children's Children's ministry, serving as a pastor's wife.

She desires, regardless of anyone's age or past experiences, that everyone would feel welcome and loved in this place. She prays that every age, from children to adulthood, would hear, read, and finally, know the truth of God's word and courageously live it out each day, knowing they are supported by their faith community here at the Refuge.ย
